The next generation of outdoorsmen

Uncle Justin and Ty McDermott with two beautiful New Jersey whitetail deer they harvested on the first morning of firearm season.

Ty passed the last hunter safety course offered before the start of the 2025 firearm deer season. Kenny had a last-minute mandatory job assignment and was unable to make the first day. Justin stepped in and set up a tree stand next to his own for Ty’s first hunt. They were hunting in deer zone 34, which includes all of Cape May County, NJ. A challenging area to deer hunt in New Jersey in comparison to Counties to the north. I was hopeful that Ty would at least see some deer on his first hunt of any kind. However, his first hunt turned out to be an epic hunt. Creating a story that will be re-told around our shop woodstove for a lifetime. A big thank you to past generations of NJ hunters and fishermen for buying the land via hunting and fishing license money, and the NJ Fish and Game Council for an outstanding job of managing the funds. https://www.trcp.org/2022/02/17/record-1-5-billion-going-conservation-thanks/
