I was able to flounder fish for 2 hours today. The round trip to my fishing spot was 35 minutes. Even with the boat traffic it was beautiful on the water today. It was slow fishing but I did manage to catch 3 keeper flounder. There was one down side today and that was the greenheads. The water temperature was 64 at the top of the tide. The water clarity was an 8, with 10 being the clearest.
I fish for whatever flounder are located in the back bay.
If you are looking to fill the cooler with keeper flounder the upper Delaware bay is red hot at this time.
This stuff has worked for me regarding the flies: http://www.greenheadfly.com/main.html.
Thanks for the tip Brian. Can you buy this stuff at a local shop?
I fish all over and I picked this up at Fisherman’s Headquarters in Ship Bottom. I haven’t seen this elsewhere. I fished Great Bay a short time ago and there were lots of greenies but the worst was they bounced off a few times, no bites. It does last for hours. I was out for 6 hours and didn’t need to apply more. Another trick is I wear long pants. I’ve seen guys fish in Florida, in the summer, completely covered to protect from bugs and the sun.
