August keeper flounder in the sounds of Cape May County,NJ

August back bay keeper summer flounder

August back bay keeper summer flounder

Catching keeper flounder in August in the back bays can be challenging, the sure bet this time of the year  is to fish offshore structure.  The upside to fishing the sounds is time. Today’s flounder were caught in 8′ – 12 ‘ of water. The water temperature was 72 degrees.  The flounder were spitting up  shedder crabs and spearing. I caught two keepers  and many shorts  in  one hour and 40 minutes of fishing. It was a beautiful evening on the water , September like, with the moon and the sunset in view at the same time.
