The summer flounder hit my bucktail, then made a drag screaming run. The battle continued until one of the biggest back bay summer flounder that I have caught was in the boat. He later pulled the scale down to 6.95lbs. The fishing was good when conditions allowed. However, my overall numbers were down in the back bay waters, especially in my traditional close-to-home areas. I was forced to head to the northern reaches of Cape May County sounds to find the bite. I caught a few nice flounder, a 6.95 lbs, a 6.lbs, and 3 others that weighed in just short of 5lbs. The hunt will continue next season for that double-digit back bay summer flounder. I ended the spring season (May through June) with 29 keepers. The effort was rated 5 on a 1-10 scale. Bad weather conditions throughout the season reduced the time spent on the water.
