There are a few ways to put yourself in great position to catch weakfish under 2015 conditions . However, the best way is to fish with someone who is catching” weakfish.  There are a lot of fishing guides today that have 90% of the information on fishing for weakfish, but in 2015 you need 100% of the information to catch.

I fished numerous areas for them, and applied a ridiculous amount of effort.  I found clean water, baitfish and the correct water temperature, not a hit. Not even a rumor of a New Jersey red drum or speckled trout being caught, to spite prime conditions this past week. The only way I avoid getting skunked, is by cherry picking striped bass on the way home.    Worst October for Jersey reds and speckled trout in a lifetime, so far.

Today’s stripers were real drag screaming  gladiators, they put my light gear to the test for sure. We caught some nice fish during our 3 hour trip and earned everyone. The stripers we caught  today looked to be resident fish.   The weather forecast has the outlook for NJ  red drum and speckled trout fishing  looking  like a wast of time.  The upside is, we still  have time for the conditions to fall in place and striped bass to catch.
